The World Record for Longest Ever Commercial Flight Occurred Due to COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically impacted the aviation industry, causing a decrease in air or international travel and changes in travelers’ habits. Despite this, an exceptional flight in 2020 broke a record by becoming the longest commercial flight in history.

Before the pandemic, Qatar Airways operated the longest commercial flight from Auckland to Doha. It used to cover a distance of 14,529 km and lasted 17 hours and 30 minutes.

The pandemic caused a reduction in air travel, leading to the cancellation of numerous long-haul flights and increased demand for ultra-long-haul flights to reduce exposure to the virus.

In response to this demand, Qatar Airways conducted a flight between Doha and Auckland in November 2020, which broke the previous record and became the longest commercial flight ever recorded.

This flight lasted 17 hours and 41 minutes, covering a distance of 16,009 kilometers. Qatar Airways used a Boeing 777-200LR airplane with 42 business class tickets and 217 premium economy seats to fly the trip.

The COVID-19 epidemic greatly influenced the aviation sector and gave airlines new chances to break records.

The Number of Tourist Visas Issued Each Month Across the Globe Are Insane

Many countries require individuals to obtain tourist visas, also known as travel visas, to enter for the international travel and tourism industry or business purposes. The monthly count of issued visas can fluctuate significantly, depending on factors such as the country, season, and global events.

The World Tourism Organization reported that in 2019, the world saw approximately 1.5 billion international tourist arrivals. This number has probably declined recently due to the COVID-19 outbreak and associated travel restrictions. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline industry has suffered dramatically, leading to a drop in international and domestic travel. The number of international arrivals continued to rise through 2021.

Some countries, such as the United States and Australia, have made it easier for business travelers to receive tourist visas by implementing electronic visa systems. And this can also affect the monthly count of issued visas.

Political stability, economic conditions, and natural disasters can all impact the number of visas issued. During political unrest or economic turmoil, travelers may avoid visiting the country, leading to a decline in issued visas.

Conversely, stability and prosperity can attract more people to the country for tourism or business, increasing the number of visas issued.

The monthly count of tourist visas issued globally is a complex figure to determine due to a lack of consistent data and the many factors that can impact the number of visas issued. The COVID-19 epidemic most certainly influenced the volume of visas issued. But as the situation improves, we can expect the number to rise.
